Blues to Pop to Everything in Between

Fleetwood Mac was founded by guitarist Peter Green, drummer Mick Fleetwood and guitarist Jeremy Spencer. They were later joined by John McVie before releasing their debut self-titled album. Mcvie married a keyboardist in 1970 named Christine Perfect, who also joined the band. However, by 1974, all three guitarists were dismissed, and Fleetwood mac was without a male vocalist or guitarist. Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks joined the picture in 1974, giving the previously blues band a more pop rock sound. After the addition of Buckingham and Nicks, the band released Rumours, which produced four Top 10 singles and topped the American albums chart for 31 weeks straight. The album has sold over 40 million copies around the world, earning it the 8th best selling album in history. The album was made during personal issues within the band, with both John & Christine McVie and Buckingham & Nicks separating from one another. However, the band still continued making original music with one another for 3 more albums. Buckingham and Nicks left the band until 1993, when a one-off performance for the first inauguration of Bill Clinton featured a performance from Fleetwood Mac. 4 years later the band embarked on a full reunion tour. Since then, Lindsey Buckingham was fired from Fleetwood Mac, being replaced by Mike Campbell from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers as well as Neil Finn from Crowded House.
