Pittsburgh Pirates Ticket Information

One of the oldest teams in Major League Baseball has been electrifying fans in Pittsburgh for close to 150 years. Tickets to a Pittsburgh Pirates game put you in the stands to view an icon of Western Pennsylvania and one of the most storied franchises in the sport. Follow the Black and Gold on their next MLB Playoff race to see what an epic legacy brings to the field.

Rise of the Alleghenys

Pittsburgh was already building on years of baseball tradition in the Steel City when the Alleghenys joined the brand-new American Association in 1881. The team switched to the National League in 1887, and got their modern name in 1891 after signing a star player away from Philadelphia, who denounced the move as high-seas robbery.

By 1927, the Pirates had taken the league pennant 6 times and won the World Series twice, but they’d have to wait another 33 years before claiming either prize again. They would return to the World Series 3 times through 1979, winning it each time, before the start of an even longer championship drought. The modern-day team has shaken off dark memories of the 1990s to be regular contenders in the playoffs, aiming for a new age of victories.

The Family

The Pirates have fielded a host of baseball greats through the years, with today’s players carrying on the legacy of figures like Honus Wagner, Roberto Clemente, Willie Stargell, and Bill Mazeroski. Their rivalry with the Philadelphia Phillies is among the hottest in the National League and the oldest in baseball, and over the years the Pirates made their share of memorable moments with just about every other team in their division. A home game on the PNC Park treats you to one of the best things to do in Pittsburgh, and the Pirates can deliver 9 innings of great entertainment wherever you see them play.
